Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
